Niles Community Schools to host back-to-school open houses

NILES — Ballard Elementary School will host an expo-style open house for families on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Parents and students can meet teachers, tour the building and become familiar with available community resources. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about programs available through valuable organizations such as the Niles District Library, United Way of Southwest Michigan and the Niles-Buchanan YMCA, as well as available mental health and early childhood education services, said staff.

The expo-style open house event will also have a food truck onsite for families to enjoy.

The following schools will also host open houses:

• 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 — Howard-Ellis Elementary

• 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 — Eastside Connections

• 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 — Niles High School

• 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 — Great Start Readiness Program at Northside Child Development Center

• 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 — Cedar Lane School
