DOWAGIAC — It was not the type of night one would want to send out a senior class that won back-to-back district championships, but despite the rain, wind and cool temperatures, Dowagiac honored them with an 8-0 non-conference victory over visiting Coloma.

The Chieftains (5-1) led 7-0 at halftime on two goals by Gustavo Cruz and Isaac Saavedra and single goals by Cole Weller, Cristian Wilson and Ben McCrorey.

Cruz’s goal with 20:21 left in the second half ended the match due to the mercy rule.

Dowagiac outshot Coloma 20-1.

The Chieftains return to the pitch Wednesday when they travel to Parchment for a non-conference contest.
