CASSOPOLIS — For families with children, the Meet Up and Eat Up Program is feeding children 18 years and younger a free breakfast and lunch all week long at the Cass County Fair. The summer food service program is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and for the 10th year in a row, Cassopolis Public Schools is sponsoring a tent at the fair. The tent is located across from the beef wash racks and will be serving breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“A lot of our students are showing animals and we want to provide them with a meal,” said Theresa Mott, a cook at Cassopolis Public Schools. “It doesn’t matter what school a child goes to or what income a family makes, this is free for the kids.”

Last year, the tent served 300 breakfasts and 400 lunches every day at the fair, Mott said.

The Meet Up and Eat Up program taking place at the fair is part of the regular Meet Up and Eat Up program offered by Cassopolis Public Schools from June through August. Questions from readers are directed to Glenn Barr, (269) 445-1645.
