ST. JOSEPH — The Twin City Players will host auditions for the musical comedy “Mamma Mia!”
Auditions are scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday June 9 at 7 p.m. Tuesday June 11. Callbacks will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15 if needed. The auditions will be located at Twin City Players Campus at 600 West Glenlord Road, St. Joseph. Sarah Simmons and Laura Simmons direct the production.
The productions music and lyrics are by Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, and some songs with Stig Anderson, book by Catherine Johnson.
Those interested are asked to prepare a song from any musical, including from Mamma Mia, however, the song choice does not need to reflect desired character, play officials said. Actiors must come prepared with accompaniment using either a track or their choice or piano sheet music. Play officials said they are looking for musicality, personality, and overall performance. An accompanist will be present for the first hour of both audition dates.
Those auditioning must all prepare a memorized monologue of approximately one minute. The monologue must show a range of emotion. There will also be a third audition category featuring a simple song and two given emotions that actors will be asked to portray.
