LASATA: Congrats to the 2019 #SWMISpirit tournament champions

The 2019 #SWMISpirit tournament has concluded, and I would like to congratulate students, parents, faculty and alumni of the Coloma Comets on their back-to-back tournament championship.

The Comets defeated Howardsville Christian in the final round, which concluded April 19. The champions tallied 3,920 in the finals, earning them the title trophy and a $250 prize from AT&T Pioneers for the accomplishment.

The tournament began March 18 with 31 area high schools competing in four brackets. I appreciate the enthusiastic participation from all who participated by sharing and liking photos on Facebook and by voting in our online polls.

My thanks to everyone who showed their school and community spirit during this year’s tournament. You have all helped prove again that no one has more school spirit than Southwest Michigan.

Coloma should be proud of the spirit and teamwork they displayed throughout the competition.
