Woman charged in Pokagon Township dog deaths

CASSOPOLIS — A woman has been charged in the deaths of dogs found inside a hot car Sunday in Pokagon Township.

According to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office, Sherrill Langford was charged with three counts of animal killing/torturing and three counts of animal abandoning/cruelty causing death.

Langford was arrested Sunday by Pokagon Tribal Police after officers were alerted to the fact that three dogs were trapped inside a car on the property of the Dowagiac Four Winds Casino. Responding officers found two of the dogs dead at the scene.

Langford is currently on $1,500 bond and is scheduled for District Court arraignment at 9 a.m. April 17.
