NILES — Iron Shoe Distillery will be opening its doors to the greater Niles community at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

To celebrate this business’ achievement, Iron Shoe Distillery and the Greater Niles Chamber of Commerce will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at the distillery, located at 3 N. Third St. in Niles. Attendees are encouraged to begin gathering at Iron Shoe Distillery at 2:30 p.m., with the ribbon cutting taking place at 3 p.m. and the restaurant remaining open until 10 p.m.

In addition to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, Iron Shoe Distillery will host a grand opening celebration at 5 p.m. Friday until midnight. This celebration will include drink specials all evening, with live music from acoustic folk singer and songwriter Lexi Adams.

Iron Shoe Distillery is a family owned and operated, small-batch distillery, cocktail bar and restaurant. Currently, Iron Shoe Distillery has bottled vodka, rum, and limoncello available for sale, but will look to release aged spirits as they become available. Additionally, the kitchen serves upscale American comfort food that features gourmet burgers, hand cut fries, and a top-secret family recipe macaroni and cheese.

Co-owner Laura Tuthill expressed her excitement.

“We are humbled by the support of the local community and so happy to be planting our roots here in Niles,” Tuthill said. “We hope to be a social hub where we bring people together over good food and drinks.”

Additionally, she said Iron Shoe Distillery maintains plans for its future within the greater Niles community.

This summer, the distillery will begin growing its own corn at a family-owned farm in Michigan City, Indiana that will be used in their spirits. Additional talks have begun in reference to Iron Shoe Distillery opening another tasting room within the southwest Michigan region.
