Rena D. Rosencrans, 61, of Dowagiac, passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at her home on Monday, April 1, 2019, with her loving husband and daughter by her side.

Rena was born on Dec. 21, 1957, to the late Oscar “Bud” and Betty (Ritter) Schosker, in Niles.

Rena Rosencrans

She graduated in 1975 from Buchanan High School. Rena worked for Semco Gas Company for 35 years, and was looking forward to retiring soon. She was all about helping other people. She truly had a huge heart. It seems to be made of solid gold. Rena strived to do her best at everything; one of her favorite things to do was to come up with new recipes to surprise Jim with. Rena and Jim have celebrated 27 years together. He always felt that she was the best thing that has ever happened to him.

In her free time, she enjoyed riding her Harley; and spoiling her grand-daughter Taya.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Betty; and her mother-in-law, Carolyn Rosencrans.

Rena is survived by her husband, Jim, of Dowagiac; her daughter, Lane (Trey Woods) Poledna, of Buchanan; grand-daughter, Taya Poledna, of Buchanan; brother, Kevin Schosker, of Tennessee; sister, Paula (John) Harrington, of Niles; her best friend, Debbie Crawley, of Niles; and her uncle, Harold (Deann) Ritter, of Buchanan.

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Family will gather with friends for a time of visitation from noon until the service at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Sumnerville Cemetery in Pokagon Township.
