All-Southwest Michigan team announced

NILES — The area wrestling coaches have named Niles’ Jamison Zimmerman the Frank Mucha Wrestler of the Year.

Niles’ Todd Hesson was named the All-Southwest Michigan Coach of the Year.

In all, the Vikings landed six wrestlers on the first team.

Dowagiac, Brandywine, Edwardsburg, Buchanan and Cassopolis did not have any first-team selections.

Dowagiac’s Dylan Elmore (119) and Alex McIntosh (130) were second-team picks, as were Jackson Hoover (135) and Dillion Hursh (189) of Edwardsburg, along with Dylan Green (160) of Cassopolis.

Dowagiac had eight wrestlers earn honorable mention.

They were Jordan Simpson (103), Tyler Huston (112), Deny White (140), Nick Turnbow (145), Lamberto Paredes (160), Brayan Paredes (171), Michael Schlup (189) and Wyatt Bailey (285).

Edwardsburg’s Michael Tatay (145) and Caden Reese (160) were also honorable mention selections.
