Cass County Conservation District taking orders for annual tree sale

CASSOPOLIS — The Cass County Conservation District recently announced orders are being accepted for the annual Spring Tree Seedling and Fruiting Plant Sale through April 8.

The sale is a critical fundraiser for the district, representatives said. The order pick-up dates and extra tree/plant sales are April 18 to 20 at the Cass County Council on Aging Orbit Building on M-60 in Cassopolis.

A variety of conifers, deciduous trees, fruit trees, native small trees, shrubs and plants, and edible plants are available. New species this year include: Tulip Poplar, Wealthy Apple, Manchurian Crabapple, Redhaven Peach, Flemish Beauty Pear, Swamp Rose, Meadowsweet Spirea, Pussy Willow, Cardinal Flower, Ironweed, Chippewa Blueberry and Pilgrim Cranberry. Other items such as the earth machine compost bin, rigid protective tree tubes, marking flags, and rentals of the tree planter, dibble bar, and Japanese Knotweed injector are also available.
