CASSOPOLIS — One person was killed and two were injured in a Monday evening crash, according to the Cassopolis Police Department.

Police were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on M-62, west of Hilton Street around 5:37 p.m. At the scene, officers found two pickup trucks in the middle of M-62, in front of the Cass County Law and Courts Building.

Initial investigation has shown that at westbound truck, driven by a 24-year-old Cassopolis man, lost control on the ice and went across the centerline and was struck by an eastbound truck. The eastbound truck was driven by a 36-year-old Dowagiac man, with a 48-year-old woman from Decatur as his passenger.

The names of the drivers and passenger will be released following family notifications.

The Cassopolis Police Department was assisted on scene by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Animal Control, Central Cass Fire Department, Lifecare Ambulance, Pridecare Ambulance and Edwardsburg Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
