SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN — State Rep. Brad Paquette has been named vice chair of the House Education Committee. He has also been selected to serve on the Elections and Ethics Committee, Insurance Committee, and Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee.
As a public-school teacher for Niles New Tech, Paquette said he believes that investing in the lives of our young people through their education is important and he is looking forward to working with all of his colleagues to find solutions to improve learner success.
“As an educator, and now a legislator, I recognize the need for allowing teachers the flexibility to be innovative in their classrooms,” Paquette said. “Additionally, students deserve greater access to Career and Technical Education options to explore potential career opportunities.”
Paquette also serves as a member of the Planning Commission for the City of Niles and knows first-hand the important role local government plays in the lives of citizens.
“Serving on the Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee gives me the opportunity work with local leaders to draft public policy that directly benefits residents,” Paquette said.
