NILES — While the services they will offer are the same, the former Pregnancy Care Center officially rebranded Monday. The nonprofit changed its name to LifePlan to better reflect the services they provide.

To commemorate the name change, the Greater Niles Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday afternoon at LifePlan, 527 E. Main St. in Niles.

Following the ribbon cutting, Executive Director Lyndon Azcuna addressed a crowd of about 40 people.

“Thank you for being part of LifePlan as friends, family and part of the community,” Azcuna said. “We want to continue to make an impact. We made our change in the name because we want a greater influence in the community. We really want to serve more people and more families.”

The organization, which opened in the 1980s, is a faith-based operation that aims to help new parents with a variety of needs, including medical services, relationship support, “Baby and Me” classes, prenatal/parenting classes, life skills training, men’s mentoring, fatherhood support, post-abortion support, leadership development and material support. By the end of 2019, the organization also hopes to offer screenings for sexually transmitted infections. All services are free and confidential.

The organization also takes part in community events and hosts, the annual Baby Cakes Cupcake Contest, the 5K/10 Hero run, and the LifeWalk. More information on LifePlan is available at pccniles.com.
