Clarence “Mano” Carpenter, 79, of Dowagiac, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at noon on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Calvary Bible Church, 27032 Marcellus Hwy., Dowagiac with Pastor Stacey Wilder officiating. Burial will follow at South Wayne Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Mano was born Oct. 10, 1939, in Dowagiac, to Clarence and Elsie (Fellner) Carpenter. He was united in marriage to Linda Colley on July 31, 1965, in Dowagiac.

He was a faithful member at Calvary Bible Church for 37 years where he used his talents to serve his Savior.

Mano enjoyed both indoor and outdoor activities ranging from playing cards and puzzles to hunting and fishing. He was a handy man and it was not uncommon to find him working on a vehicle of a family member or friend and spent a lot of time on building projects. As Mano got older he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, teaching them to fish how to shoot a bow and arrow or to just walk around with them.

Mano is survived by his wife Linda; his children-Ben (Kim) Carpenter, of Knox, Indiana, Lonny (Missy) Carpenter, of Lawton, Michigan; 9 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister Kate (Jim) Wilder, of Dowagiac; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters-Elsie, Nancy, Veeann, Carol and Sue and five brothers-Vick, Bruce, Robert, Jimmy and Vance.
