DOWAGIAC — Below freezing temperatures could not keep visitors away from Dowagiac this weekend as the city hosted one of its favorite holiday traditions.

The streets of Dowagiac were illuminated in multicolored Christmas lights Friday night for the city’s 37th annual Candlelight Christmas Parade.

The parade featured 130 units from all over southwest Michigan hoping to spread holiday cheer, including local fire and police departments, the Dowagiac Union High School band, the Miss Dowagiac Scholarship Pageant, Honor Credit Union and many more. Prior to the parade, entertainment was hosted on Front Street. Entertainment included Christmas carols led by members of the Lighthouse Chorus and a holiday presentation by students of Positively Dance.
