CASSOPOLIS — Midwest Energy & Communications has partnered with the Cassopolis VFW’s Ladies Auxiliary #10704 to serve a free Thanksgiving meal to local vets, their families and friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14. The meal will be served at the VFW, 131 S. Broadway St., Cassopolis.

“Vets hold a special place in our hearts at MEC, and this Thanksgiving meal is our way of giving back to those who have given so much for our freedom,” said Patty Nowlin, vice president of corporate communications at MEC.

MEC employees will deep-fry turkeys, bake hams and prepare traditional Thanksgiving side dishes and desserts. They will also help serve meals and provide support to the Ladies Auxiliary throughout the event.

“We encourage those who have served to bring their loved ones and enjoy great homemade food and good company as we usher in this season of reflection and gratitude,” Nowlin said.

For those attending, donations are welcome but not required.

Midwest Energy and Communications creates vibrant, relevant, sustainable rural communities by providing first-in-class electric distribution, propane, and fiber internet solutions to more than 40,000 consumers in 15 counties across southern Michigan and northern Indiana and Ohio, Nowlin said.
