Rangers fall to Mendon, Bulldogs

CASSOPOLIS — The Cassopolis volleyball team faced the top two teams in the Southwest 10 Conference in the span of six days.

The Rangers did not fare well, falling to conference champion Mendon 25-14, 25-20 and 25-13 last Thursday and to Centreville, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-12 Tuesday night.

Cassopolis finished in third place in the Southwest 10 with a 7-2 record.

Centreville took the runner-up spot with the victory over the Rangers.

Against the Bulldogs, Maile Barber had nine kills, 17 digs and two blocks, while Sophia Fiala had four kills and two blocks.

Lynnzee Armstrong added three kills and 10 digs. Gabby Rowan finished with 12 digs and 19 assists.

Against Mendon, Fiala had six kills, Barber four, Taylor Herwick three and Rowan three.

Armstrong had a team-high 13 blocks followed by Barber’s 11 and Rowan’s seven.

Rowan finished with 14 assists.
