Volleyball, soccer also pick up wins

MARCELLUS — The Rangers rolled up 43 first-half points in complete domination of the Wildcats, who crossed midfield just one time.

Cassopolis rushed for 252 yards and threw for another 67, while the Ranger defense held Marcellus to just 17 yards of total offense.

Quarterback Dylan Green turned in a big game as he rushed for 89 yards and scored on runs of 26 and 41 yards. Green was also 8-of-10 for 67 yards and a 13-yard touchdown pass to Tyrese Hunt-Thompson.

Thompson added a six-yard touchdown run.

J.J. Hart, Owen Gardner and Cerious Wilson added rushing touchdowns.

Defensively for the Rangers, Ahsan Hart and Hunter Parsons both finished with seven tackles, while Green, Darrion Gatson, Hart, Skylar McKee and Samson Yuhas all recovered fumbles as the Wildcats turned the ball over five times.

Cassopolis returns home to host Hartford for homecoming Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Volleyball

The Rangers swept Hartford 3-0 in Southwest 10 Conference volleyball Tuesday night.

Cassopolis is now 17-2-1 on the season and 7-0 in conference play.

The Rangers were the runners-up at the River Valley Invitational on Saturday after losing to Dowagiac in the finals.

The Chieftains have handed Cassopolis both of its losses this season.

Soccer

Cassopolis picked up a pair of wins this week as it defeated Brandywine 6-1 and Howardsville Christian 3-1.

Both were non-conference matches.

Brett Williams scored a pair of goals against Howardsville, while Todd Bussey also scored.

The Rangers are now 10-6-2.
