Registration open for the 37th annual Niles-Buchanan YMCA Thanksgiving Day Run

NILES — Registration for the 2018 Niles-Buchanan YMCA Thanksgiving Day Run is officially open.

The 37th annual race will take place starting at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22 and feature a 10K Run/Walk, 5K Run, and 1-Mile Fun Run.

“This year, as in the past, we anticipate over 2,000 runners representing over 25 states to participate in this long-standing community tradition,” said Jill Haboush, race director. “It is so much fun planning an event that draws so much interest and support from the community. And, on race day, it is simply amazing to be in the midst of so much energy as family and friends gather at the start line.”

Registration can be completed online at ymcaswm.com/TDR, in person at either YMCA of Southwest Michigan branch, or the day of the race at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA, 905 N. Front St., Niles.

Participants can register for $25 per person or $20 per person for households of two to eight people through Nov. 4. Prices will increase after that date.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Y’s Annual Campaign, which seeks to provide the opportunity for hundreds of children in the community to attend Y programs, including summer camps, after school programs, preschool and water safety to name a few, at little or no cost through financial assistance.

For more than 70 years, the Y’s goal has been to help with youth development. Officials said they hope residents consider joining this mission by participating or volunteering at this year’s Thanksgiving Day Run.

For more information about Thanksgiving Day run, or to register, please visit ymcaswm.com/TDR or contact the Niles-Buchanan YMCA at (269) 683-1552.
