Berrien County to start allowing inmate visits via internet

BERRIEN COUNTY — Starting Wednesday, Sept. 19, individuals wishing to visit an inmate in the Berrien County Jail will have the option of conducting that visit using the internet.

The remote visits were able to be scheduled starting Friday, Sept. 14, by visiting berrien.gtlvisitme.com. Those interested must schedule up to 24 hours in advance.

Internet visitation hours will be:

• 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

• 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 4 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Internet visitation rules are as outlined:

• Inmates can only have two visits per day.

• Inmates can have up to 10 visits per week.

• Only three visitors are permitted per visit (one visitor must be at least 18 years of age).

• People must be at least 18 years of age to schedule a visit.

• All visits are monitored. Inappropriate behavior may cause the visit to be terminated and visiting privileges could be taken away. The person who scheduled the visit will still be charged the normal fee.
