One person killed in two-car crash Monday

ROYALTON TOWNSHIP — A 56-year-old man died in a two-car crash Monday morning in Royalton Township, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash occurred at 5:55 a.m. on the I-94 bridge over the St. Joseph River near Niles Road. The driver of a 2013 Chrysler van, Myles Ullenbrauck, 56, of Skokie, Illinois, was killed in the crash, police said. The second driver, Stephen Byers, 29, of St. Joseph, was in a 2002 Jeep Liberty and was taken to Lakeland Hospital. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, according to authorities.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit was activated. Traffic was detoured during the investigation and it was opened up at 8:55 a.m.

Other agencies involved include the Lincoln Township Police Department, St. Joseph Township Police Department, Royalton Fire Department and Medic One.

This crash remains under investigation.
