CASSOPOLIS — Senior citizens from all over Cass County gathered at the Agnes Gregarek Community building at the Cass County fair to enjoy free entertainment at 9 a.m. yesterday.

The programing was hosted by the Cass County COA to help kick off Senior Day at the fair, where anyone age 60 and older got in for free. It featured free coffee and donuts, as well as a local country band and a nationally-renowned comedian, Craig Tornquist.

“He’s from Mishawaka, but he performs all over the country,” said Bob Cochrane, COA CEO. “I think he’s been to the fair three times before and then we’ve had him perform at the Lowe Center a couple of times, too. This is probably his sixth show that he’s done for us.”

Tornquist began performing 33 years ago and has entertained crowds of people at more than 3,000 shows.

After Tornquist, local country band the Bronk Bros. took the stage. The band has played together for more than a decade.

“The event helps bring the community together,” Cochrane said. “We like to encourage people to come to the fair and take advantage of all it has to offer.”
