Competing for a seat in the seat on the Cass County Commission

In the upcoming Michigan Democratic Party primary election on Aug. 7, incumbent Clark Cobb is being challenged by Minnie Warren for a seat on the Cass County Commission.  I have one question, Is Minnie Warren a Democrat?

My name is Lin Pollard and I have lived in this area since I moved here 13 years ago.  I have been a member of the Cass County Democratic Party for more than 10 years and during that time, I have volunteered two to three days a week at the Democratic Headquarters office and store and been at nearly every monthly meeting.  I have never met Ms. Warren.  I’ve never seen her at a meeting and to my knowledge she has never set foot in our headquarters. I know she is not a member of the Cass County Democratic Party or the Michigan Democratic Party.

She is now running for Commissioner as a “Democrat.”  She ran previously as a “Republican.”  It appears she thinks a party is just a label that she can put on and off as a matter of convenience and what she thinks will get her the most votes.

I am a Democrat because it’s an expression of my values.  I work within the party to do what I can to honor the past and work for a better future of my adopted county, city and state. This is why I feel insulted by a woman who claims to be a Democrat but who has no connection to the party and no idea of its values.  I am told that Minnie Warren, as Commissioner, would vote to tear down the old County Courthouse, destroying another piece of our history and crippling our economic future.

Please vote for Clark Cobb who has shown his dedication to the county, and will vote for keeping the Courthouse so further progress can be made and it can become what it should be — an asset to our county.
