What a tragic irony that the Star features a front-page article on the reunification of families, at the same time that this administration is deliberately and cruelly tearing migrant families apart!

The article on Monday’s Star concerns a Cass County Reunification Day, celebrating families who’ve been reunited after a parent has completed family treatment court — a wonderful thing.

Meanwhile, our own national government is tearing children from their parents’ arms. Children have been kept in cages! Among the many people who have cried out against this hateful policy of President Trump and his administration is Laura Bush, wife of former President George W. Bush.

On Sunday, she wrote that this practice is cruel, immoral, and “it breaks my heart.”

Surely this should break all of our hearts, and stir us to anger. We have to end this heartlessness.
