Eddies sweep Otsego, swept by Vicksburg in Wolverine action

EDWARDSBURG — The Edwardsburg softball team split a pair of Wolverine Conference doubleheaders on Tuesday and last Thursday.

The Eddies swept Otsego, beating the Bulldogs 4-3 and 15-0.

On Tuesday, Edwardsburg was swept by Vicksburg, falling 2-0 and 8-6.

Against Otsego, Alyssa Gearhart went 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI.

Kaitlynne Allen was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Ashley Pion was 2-for-3 with a home run and and RBI.

Pion also picked up the victory in relief of starter Carly Tittle.

Pion worked five and two-third innings, allowing four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. She also did not allow a hit.

In the nightcap, Jordan Tighe was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Lexi Clark, Pion and Courtney Ryker all had two hits, including doubles by Pion and Ryker.

Bailey Anson also had a double for the Eddies.

Pion went the distance, allowing no runs on one hit with five strikeouts.

Against Vicksburg in the opening game Edwardsburg was held to just two hits.

Clark doubled and Vanessa Mayou singled for the Eddies.

In the nightcap, Edwardsburg finished with 11 hits, including a three-run home run by Pion.

Clark, Allen and Tighe all finished with two hits. Allen doubled and had an RBI.

Edwardsburg travels to Plainwell for another Wolverine Conference doubleheader before competing in the South Bend Clay tournament Saturday.
