KALAMAZOO — The Niles and Buchanan softball teams both earned sweeps of non-league opponents Thursday.

The Vikings traveled to Kalamazoo to take two from Loy Norrix, while the Bucks were in Decatur for a sweep of the Raiders.

Niles improved to 4-0 on the year as it defeated the Knights 13-2 and 15-3.

Reese Davies was the winning pitcher in the first game, while Kailey Fear picked up the win in the nightcap.

The Vikings had 16 hits in the opener, including a Hannah Albright home run. Davies had a pair of doubles, while Aynslee Myer also doubled.

Taylor Altergott added a triple.

In the second game, Caitlin Daly and Fear both homered as Niles finished with 11 hits.

Altergott and Myer both doubled.

Buchanan softball

The Bucks picked up their first two wins of the year as they defeated the Raiders 10-2 and 14-2.

Ericka Donathen was the winning pitcher in both games.

She also homered and doubled.
