Dowagiac duo named All-Wolverine

A pair of Dowagiac competitive cheerleaders have earned All-Wolverine Conference honors.

The Chieftains’ Makaela Castaneda was a second-team selection, while Maddi Stockwell was named honorable mention.

Dowagiac finished in seventh place in the final Wolverine Conference.

Paw Paw was the league champion as it finished with 50 points.

Sturgis was second with 43 points and Plainwell third with 41. Rounding out the top five were Allegan (32) and Vicksburg (28).

Paw Paw dominated the all-conference team with six first-team selections. Sturgis had four first-team picks, while Plainwell finished with three selections.

Edwardsburg, which finished eighth in the final standings, had Chelsea Philpot earn honorable mention.

Paw Paw’s Stefanie Miller was named Wolverine Conference Coach of the Year.
