Athlete Showcase: Niles’ Reese Davies

Reese Davies is a sophomore on the Niles girls basketball team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

RD: Having 20 rebounds in one game my freshman year.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete? 

RD: Not getting out of the first round of districts last year.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

RD: Patrick Touhey, because he gave me a love for the sport and taught me how to not only play, but how to be a better teammate and an overall better person.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

RD: The very first game of the season.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

RD: Getting nailed in the head with a basketball three times in a game.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

RD: I run on the treadmill and practice drills.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

RD: Track.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

RD: Sports create friendships, teach leadership and many life lessons.

How would you give away $50,000?

RD: I would give it to the children’s research cancer fund.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

RD: I would choose University of Alabama softball.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

RD: Listen to music all the time.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

RD: Shooting long-range jumpers.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

RD: The number of fouls allowed.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

RD: That I have the potential to be a great leader.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

RD: Come up and play varsity for districts my freshman year. Yes, I’m very glad I did it.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

RD: How hard Alycia Patterson works to get better at basketball every day at practice.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

RD: Playing sports because they are fun and I meet new people because of it.
