Edwardsburg girls roll to 16th win of the season

EDWARDSBURG — Visiting Plainwell was no match for the Edwardsburg girls basketball team Tuesday night.

The Eddies rolled to their 16th victory over the season with a 55-24 decision in a Wolverine Conference non-divisional contest.

Edwardsburg (16-1) shutout Plainwell 17-0 in the first quarter and led 25-3 at halftime.

Edwardsburg took a 49-12 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Kaitlyn Zarycki and Abbey Krugh both scored 14 points for the Eddies, who also got 12 points from Claire Bartz and seven points from Alexa Markel.

Plainwell (11-4) was led by Paige Timpe’s six points.

Boys basketball

PLAINWELL — After winning three of its previous four games, the Edwardsburg boys basketball team has now dropped two consecutive contests.

Luke Morrell and Evan Finch combined for 50 points as host Plainwell scored a 61-51 Wolverine Conference non-divisional victory over Edwardsburg Tuesday night.

The Eddies trailed 17-9 after one and 30-21 at halftime.

Morrell finished with a game-high 26 points, while Finch added 24.

Edwardsburg was led by Colby Sidenbender’s 12 points. Mac Gaideski added nine and Tre Harvey eight.
