BERRIEN COUNTY —  A program targeted at helping those who may be in danger of losing their home to foreclosure is available and Berrien County residents in need are encouraged to sign up.

Berrien County Treasurer Bret Witkowski will be available to meet with property owners in Berrien County who can not pay their property taxes and are therefore in danger of losing in their home.

Those who owe 2015, and/or 2016 taxes can set up a month payment plan with automatic monthly invoices, Witkowski said. Last year, more than 400 property owners avoided foreclosure by signing up for the special program. The program has had an overall success rate of 93 percent.
