Man arrested following Dowagiac drug bust

DOWAGIAC — A man is in police custody after members of the county drug task force discovered a methamphetamine lab at a city residence Friday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence on the 700 block of North Front Street in Dowagiac, on suspicions that a meth lab was being operated at the property.

Upon searching the residence, detectives discovered a one-pot laboratory, as well as a hydrochloric gas generator and other components used to create methamphetamine. Additional drug making materials were found in the property’s garage.

Police also found methamphetamine inside the home.

A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the search, and was lodged at Cass County Jail on charges of manufacture of methamphetamine, operating/maintaining a methamphetamine lab, operating/maintaining a lab producing hazardous waste, operating a drug house, and possession of methamphetamine. Authorities are withholding his name prior to his arraignment in Cass County District Court.
