HARRISONBURG, Va. —  Kristin Hogue, of Niles, who is part of the Baritone section in the James Madison University marching band, the Marching Royal Dukes, will be marching in the inaugural parade for new Virginia Governor Ralph Northam on Saturday in Richmond.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and go around the capital square.

Hogue is majoring in nursing and expects to graduate in Spring 2021.

In addition to playing at halftime of JMU football games, the Marching Royal Dukes, which average about 400 members, have established a strong tradition as ambassadors of the university and community both in the region and abroad. In November, the band will return to New York City for its fourth appearance in the Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

James Madison University offers each student a future of significance — not an education of mere prestige, but an extraordinary education of exceptional scholarship, inventive thinking, unparalleled attention to the world community, a university-wide enthusiasm for teaching, and a commitment to student success.
