Niles man injured in two-car crash in LaGrange Township

LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP ­— One person was injured in traffic crash Thursday afternoon in LaGrange Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Dailey Road and Pokagon Highway when Bradely Cox, 37, of Niles was traveling eastbound on Pokagon Highway and a southbound vehicle pulled out in front of him, police said. The southbound vehicle was driven by Megan Gallagher, 16, of Niles. 

Cox’s passenger, Jeremy Mckie, was wearing his seatbelt. However, back seat passengers Kylee Merfeld and Michael Joslyn were not. 

Gallagher’s passengers, Skyler Leach and Brooklyn Bays, were both wearing their seatbelts. Cox was transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment and all other parties either were not injured or treated and released at the scene. Intoxicants were not a factor. This case remains under investigation.

Assisting authorities included Life Care Ambulance, Pride Care Ambulance and Central Cass Area Fire Department.
