THREE OAKS — Irish singer, songwriter, and actor Damian McGinty will perform at the Acorn Theater April 17 in Three Oaks.

He will showcase music and behind-the-scenes insights from his upcoming “EP” album of original songs. This tour will be fans’ first opportunity to hear these songs live, and to share with Damian in the excitement and stories behind the album.

In his more than 10 years in the business and nearly half a million miles, he has met thousands of people, heard their stories, and been a keen observer of humanity.

McGinty’s songs seek to reflect these values. They are sometimes light and joyful, sometimes poignant and haunting, always without pretense, fans say. Still, he seeks to provide in every song a message of hope and love.

Listeners will recognize in these stories their own lives, loves, struggles, losses, and joys, officials said. The lyrics and tunes, while personal and intimate, also seek to reflect shared experiences.

In his more than ten years, Damian has gathered a fan base that ranges from youth to people in their 90s. While some might shy away from such an eclectic scope, Damian seeks to embrace it with songs that are both timeless and fresh. His philosophy is that of inclusiveness.

“When I write songs, I’m trying to capture a moment, a feeling, an emotion. It’s extremely personal, but also, I hope, relatable and universal,” McGinty said.

To celebrate the release of “EP,” Damian will be hitting the road in spring 2018 for his biggest solo tour yet.

The set list will feature original songs from his EP, as well as fan favorites from Damian’s last ten years with Celtic Thunder, Glee, and as a solo artist. Tom Harrison, who also is a multi-talented musician, will be accompanying Damian on tour to perform on piano, guitar, and back-up vocals.

Fans know Damian as one of the original performers with the international hit group Celtic Thunder, as well as from his role as Rory Flanagan on “Glee.” His upcoming film, “Santa Fake,” is currently in production and will be released in November.
