Conservation club hosting annual squirrel hunt

DOWAGIAC — Local parents and children wanting to help cure a case of “cabin fever” are invited out to the Dowagiac Conservation Club later this month.

The club will host its fifth annual Hunter’s Rendezvous Squirrel Hunt beginning at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, with a mandatory meeting of all participants at the Dowagiac Conservation Club.

Breakfast will be available at 7 a.m. for $7, while chili and hot dogs will be served at noon for $5.

Weigh-in will be at the Dowagiac Conservation Club at 4 p.m. sharp. Late arrivals will be disqualified.

Statewide hunting with all applicable Michigan hunting rules and regulations will be followed.

This is a rimfire rifle or hand gun event. No shotguns are allowed, except for youths 14 and under. No dogs are allowed.

This is a two-person team event, with an entry fee of $20 per team. A 10- squirrel limit total weight determines winners.

Payback in cash and prizes will be based on the number of entries.
