South Bend man injured after vehicle slides off road

DOWAGIAC — A South Bend man was injured after his vehicle slid off the roadway outside Dowagiac Sunday evening, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the department were dispatched to a reported personal injury crash around 8:37 p.m. on Pokagon Highway near Wilbur Hill Road in LaGrange Township.

The accident occurred when 27-year-old Rodney Henley, of South Bend, was driving west on Pokagon Highway when he lost control of vehicle and slid off the road. His car then went down an embankment and overturned.

Crews transported Henley to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hopsital in Dowagiac for treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and Henley wore his seatbelt. Police are continuing to investigate the crash.

Crews with SMCAS ambulance and the Pokagon Township and Central Cass fire departments assisted deputies at the scene.
