NILES — Tom Atkinson took a one-game lead into the final college football game of the 2017 season Monday night.

Atkinson fashioned a 122-46 overall record through the regular season and bowl games, one better than Sue Dobrich, who entered the College Football Playoffs championship game with a 121-47 record.

The two could end up in a tie as Atkinson selected Alabama and Dobrich went with Georgia.

Brent Nate was third at 120-48, while Allison Hayes posted a 119-49 overall record. Bruce Laing and Frank Williams rounded out the top five with records of 118-50.
