When President Trump returned from his far Eastern tour, he said, “we should be proud of our history.”

We have things that we should be proud of but, as president, he should be careful to not go overboard.

We cannot be proud of our treatment of the indigenous people of our country. We cannot be proud of our ongoing attitudes concerning people of color. We cannot be proud of the Vietnam war or our invasion of Iraq.

We are writing history now. Our children and grandchildren are going to ask, “How could they let this happen?”
