Food, wine to be featured at Winter Delights event

BENTON TOWNSHIP — The Mendel Center has announced the 16 Michigan wineries and beverage makers scheduled for the ninth annual Winter Delights, southwest Michigan’s premier winter tasting event, slated for 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in The Mendel Center Grand Upton Hall.

The following beverage makers will present a selection of wines, meads, and ciders for sampling:

• 12 Corners Vineyards ­­— Benton Harbor

• Baroda Founders Wine Cellar – Baroda

• Chateau Chantel — Traverse City

• Chateau Grand Traverse — Traverse City

• Dablon Winery — Baroda

• Fenn Valley Vineyards & Wine Cellar — Fennville

• Free Run Cellars — Baroda

• Gravity Vineyards and Winery — Baroda

• Great Mead Hall & Brewing Company — Bangor

• Lake Michigan Vintners — Baroda

• Lemon Creek Winery — Berrien Springs

• Round Barn Winery — Baroda

• Peat’s Original Cider — Paw Paw

• St. Julian Winery — Paw Paw

• Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant — Buchanan

• Wyncroft — Buchanan

Adding to the sensory delights will be a collection of local dining establishments that will provide culinary treats for festival attendees to savor while enjoying a backdrop of musical entertainment from The Ed Bagatini Trio. New this year will be select wine and food pairing available at number of booths.

• Papa Vino’s Italian Kitchen

• Plank’s Tavern

• Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant

• Veni’s Sweet Shop

Tickets for Winter Delights are available through The Mendel Center box office at (269) 927-8700, option one, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as online at TheMendelCenter.com. Advance tickets are $35. Day of the event tickets will be $40.

Admission at this 21 and older event includes a festival glass, 10 wine tastings, $10 of food, and an evening of entertainment. Designated driver tickets are available for $20 and include a festival glass, two non-alcoholic drinks, $10 food, and an evening of entertainment.

Winter Delights is sponsored by the Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council, Papa Vino’s Italian Kitchen, and the Wine and Viticulture Technology Program at Lake Michigan College.

The Mendel Center is 30 minutes from Niles and 40 minutes from the Kalamazoo and South Bend areas. It is located on the Lake Michigan College campus at 2755 E. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor, Michigan.
