Niles History Center to host holiday open house Saturday

NILES — Residents passing down Main Street may have noticed the Chapin Mansion aglow with Christmas lights.

This Saturday, the community is welcome to see all the holiday decorations and a light show during an open house tour from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Chapin Mansion and Fort St. Joseph Museum, located at 508 E. Main St. in Niles.

Community groups and various businesses helped to dress up the mansion and museum specially for the holiday season. This year’s theme is “Through a Child’s Eyes.”

In addition to viewing the festive decorations, those who attend will also have the opportunity to shop at the museum gift shop with historical books and toys, plus a selection of items created by local artists.

The popular mansion light show will debut at 5 p.m. Traditional music and lights will play from 5 to 8 p.m. Colorful lights and contemporary music will run from 8 to 10 p.m.
