A historic marker and dedication ceremony to commemorate the former Niles Waste Paper Company will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at Niles-Buchanan YMCA, 905 N. Front St. — the former site of the waste paper company.

Niles Mayor Nick Shelton and the Niles DDA Main Street are inviting the community to celebrate this honor, which will be attributed to Janet Brenner Berman, of South Bend. The Brenner-Berman family contributed to the waste paper plant from 1910 to 2000.

The marker will be unveiled and a ceremony will take place at the entrance to the Indiana-Michigan River Valley Trail walk and cycle path just south of the YMCA building. The event is expected to take place rain, snow or shine. Reception with light refreshments to follow inside the YMCA building.

Parking spots will be available at the YMCA and on Front Street.

Those interested in attending are advised to RSVP by Nov. 15 by contacting Lisa Croteau at lisa@uncoverniles.com or (269) 687-4332.
