Police identify man killed by train

Police have identified a man stuck and killed by a train Friday morning in Cassopolis
According to Cassopolis Police Chief Brian LaValle, police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a CN freight train at East State Street near McDonald’s at 5:09 a.m. Friday. Police have now identified the man as 63-year-old Garry Shouse, of Cassopolis.
“When our officer arrived on scene, the man was still alive,” LaValle said. “He was transported from the scene by LifeCare Ambulance and taken to the Dowagiac hospital.”
Shouse later died from his injuries at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
