The Christmas season is quickly approaching.

The Salvation Army is taking applications for its Christmas food and toy assistance program at the beginning of November. Cass County residents in need of help this Christmas season are asked to visit the charity’s office at First United Methodist Church, 326 N. Lowe St., Dowagiac, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2. There is no need to call and make an appointment, just show up to The Salvation Army during those hours and fill out an application.

People are asked to bring:

• Current state picture ID for head of household

• Social Security cards for each adult and child in the residence

• Birth certificates for newborns

• Monthly income and expenses for the previous month

Those who cannot attend the Nov. 2 Dowagiac session may apply at the Salvation Army’s office in Niles, at 424 N 15th St., from Nov. 6-10. The office will accept applications from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.
