What’s happening at the Niles District Library?

The Niles District Library is building a community of lifelong learners that want to make Niles their lifelong home. Visitors do not need a library card to participate in anyprograms, and all programs are free. Monday, Oct. 23
• 6-7 p.m. – Tween Game Night
Calling all tweens ages 9-12! Join the library for a fun night playing board games and card games. Snacks will be provided.
• 7-8 p.m. – CDA Niles
The primary purpose of CDA as a whole is to remain clean and to help others like us gain recovery. By sharing experience, strength, and hope with each other, people solve a common problem and help others recover from chemical dependence which has made our lives unmanageable.
Tuesday, Oct. 24
• 10:30 a.m. – Passport Pals
Join the library each Tuesday for a special storytime tour of the world.
• 2 & 5 p.m. – Geo Treckers
For kids ages 6 and up.
• 6-7 p.m.- Chips and Chapters
Every Tuesday, Ms. Tara will read aloud from a chapter book.
• 6-7:30 p.m.- Women’s 12-Step Meeting
Women in search of support working through the 12 steps of AA may attend.
• 6:30-7:30 p.m.- Pajama Storytime
This evening Storytime is for the entire family. We will be reading stories on a theme, musical numbers, and a craft to end our time. Also, feel free to wear your jammies.
• 6:30-8 p.m.- Olive Branch Book Club

Wednesday, Oct. 25
• Multiple times – Storytime day
Squealers (birth-18 months) at 9:30 AM; Squeakers (18 months-3 years) at 10:00 AM; Squigglers (18 months-5 years) at 10:30 a.m.; Storytime (kids ages 3+) at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m..
• 1-4 p.m.- Michigan Works/ Kinexus
Talent Development Specialists can help people register for unemployment, evaluate their strengths and skills, edit or help update their resume, sharpen their interview skills and more.
• 7-8 p.m.- CDA Niles
Chemically Dependent Anonymous is a 12-step fellowship for anyone seeking freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. CDA Niles has a room reserved at the library every Monday and Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.. For more information please visit cdaweb.org/
Thursday, Oct. 26
• 10 a.m. – The Connection
As Berrien County’s Housing Resource Center, The Connection provides a centralized intake that works together with the consumer to rapidly re-house those who are homeless. The Connection offers the following services and resources when available: community referrals, housing information, housing case management, eviction assistance, rental assistance, and security deposit assistance.
• 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – Storytime
For kids ages 3 and up. Storytime features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet and a craft.
• 1-4:30 p.m. – Mahjong
Volunteers are available to teach newbies how to play. Other board games are also available.
• 6-7 p.m. – Teen Book Club
Join the library for snacks, and book discussion. For ages 12-19.
• 6-7:30 p.m. – Teen Time
Teens, come and hang out on Thursday evenings, 6:00-7:30 pm for a night of fun dedicated to them.
• 6:30-8 p.m. – Drop-In Book Club
Each month, a different genre of literature is chosen, and each book club member reads a different book in that genre.
Friday, Oct. 27
• 10 a.m. – noon- TOPS Meeting
TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) are a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support group and wellness education organization. TOPS offer tools and programs for healthy living and weight management, with exceptional group fellowship and recognition. Established in 1948 to champion weight-loss support and success, TOPS has helped millions of people live healthier lives. New members are welcome!
• 3-5 p.m. – Twisted Stitches
Rookies are welcome; a teacher and a few loaner tools will help people get started.
Saturday, October 28
• 10:30-11:30 a.m.– Yoga
This class is free and appropriate for all abilities. Dress comfortably, bring a yoga mat and some water. The library has a limited number of mats to borrow.
• 1-4 p.m.– Costume Contest @ YMCA
The contest is for ages birth-12; but there are fun activities for all ages and abilities!

Project Connect is an annual event in Berrien County. The goal of Project Connect is connecting individuals and families to services and resources available in Berrien County.
