Local conservation district to host invasive species seminar in Marcellus

The Cass County Conservation District will be partnering with the Marcellus Township Library to provide a free educational event later this month.

This event will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Marcellus Township Library. Kimberly Barton, the invasive species outreach educator for Cass County, will be discussing invasive species and management techniques.

There is no registration required, but guests are asked to call Kimberly at (269) 445-8641, ext 5, for more information or to let her know they plan on attending.

Invasive species are plants or animals that can cause environmental or economic damage to property. The Cass County Conservation District is dedicated to providing education and management techniques to all residents.

The Cass County Conservation District is a partner agency with the SW x SW Corner CISMA. The SW x SW Corner Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area is a partnership of federal, state, and local government agencies, individuals, and various interested groups that manage (or have a stake in managing) invasive species in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties.

Partners include the Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Conservation Districts, Chikaming Open Lands, Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy, The Stewardship Network and many others.
