Berrien County has received new voting equipment that will be used in the Nov. 7 election. This new equipment includes a new look to the traditional paper ballots as well as some changes to the tabulators and voter assisted terminals (VAT).

In an effort to help educate voters on the new equipment, Berrien County will host two voter open house nights. At these open houses voters can observe a demonstration on the new equipment as well as have a chance to practice using the equipment. Voters in need of assistance will also have the opportunity to try the voter assisted terminal (VAT) which has a touch screen, full audio, and ATI controller should the voter wish to utilize these.  The VAT is also capable of allowing voters to use sip and puff devices as well as paddles.

The open houses will be take place as follows:

• 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at Lincoln Charter Township, 2055 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville
