Chieftain Pride was on display in the streets of Dowagiac in full force this afternoon, as the traditional Dowagiac Union High School Homecoming parade kicked off once again, shortly before the big game versus Sturgis this evening. The parade traveled from the entrance of the high school on Prairie Ronde Street to the gates of Chris Taylor Alumni Field on Spruce Street. Each class displayed the floats they have built over the past week, each one representing a different holiday: the freshmen with Thanksgiving, sophomores with St. Patrick’s Day, juniors with Christmas and seniors with Halloween. Other students participated in the parade as well, including the 2017 Homecoming Court, the Chieftain Marching Band and several high school and junior teams. Helping the school with the event were members of the local law enforcement and fire agencies.
