Athletes should have respect for the U.S. anthem

Although I served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, I never risked my life in a war zone.

I did, however, personally know many who did.

I wonder if those athletes who kneel during the national anthem believe that those who risked their lives for this country were naïve, or just ignorant.

I am sure that they believe they are doing something good. I’m not sure what that is.

Instead of grandstanding, I wish they would debate the issues if they are able.

If I knew that a concert performer would inject his or her politics into the performance, I wouldn’t go. If these players continue to grandstand, I will not watch, in person or on TV.

They have the right to grandstand.  I have the right not to watch.
