Three Oaks — Journeyman Distillery will host the inaugural Journeyman and Friends Barrel-Aged Brewfest at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at 109 Generation Dr., in Three Oaks.

At the brew fest, attendees can find more 22 breweries, two wineries, and three cider and meaderies represented.

In addition to a variety of local brews, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy food from Staymaker Restaurant’s chef, Luke Caenepeel. There will also be live broadcasting from 107.1 WIRX, St. Joseph — a local mainstream rock radio station.

“We are truly humbled by the interest and commitments from our friends in the brewing industry who have used many Journeyman Distillery whiskey barrels to age their fine barrel aged beer,” said Bill Welter.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit Islay’s Barrel, a nonprofit which provides extended summer program opportunities to children across southwest Michigan.

The nonprofit was created by Journeyman Distillery owners Bill and Johanna Welter, who started the organization in honor of their daughter, Islay. When Islay was born, the Welters filled a 53-gallon-barrel of rye whiskey to represent her future education. Dubbed Islay’s barrel, the organization’s goal is to help children connect with nature and education through program opportunities.

The cost is $75 for VIP ticket holders. VIP ticket holders can enter the brew fest at noon. The ticket cover eight beer tickets, a custom Barrel Aged Brewfest glass and T-shirt.

General admission is $40, which covers custom Barrel Aged Brewfest Glass and six beer tickets. There will be $10 designated driver tickets available for those not drinking alcohol. Tickets available at: barrel-aged-brewfest.eventbrite.com. Tickets will not be available at the door.
