Man arrested for growing marijuana outside home

A man was arrested Thursday in connection with an illegal marijuana grow operation outside a city residence, according to the Dowagiac Police Department.

Officers with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on a home on the 500 block of East Prairie Ronde Street, on suspicions that marijuana was beimg illegally grown at the property. Police discovered an outdoor grow operation that was in violation of the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act.

A 51-year-old man who was present at the site was arrested on charges for the manufacture of marijuana. Police are withholding the suspect’s named pending his arraignment on the charges in Cass County District Court.

Other people suspected in the operation were not present at the time of the search, and are being sought for questioning. The investigation is still on going at this time.

Officers with the Dowagiac Police Department and Cass County Animal Control helped drug enforcement detectives at the scene.
